Organizations We Partner With
Directly or indirectly, the branch works with a
wide range of partner organizations and
agencies. Some of them are listed here:

Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Association of BC – the governing body that oversees the
establishment of organized Aboriginal sports and
recreation.

BC Athlete Voice – this three-year pilot project
empowers elite athletes in British Columbia and
supports first-party representation at sport
leadership tables.

BC Disability Sports – the federation that
provides competitive and recreational programs for
persons with a disability, including the B.C. Disability Games.

BC Games Society – includes the B.C. Summer Games,
B.C. Winter Games, B.C. Seniors Games, B.C. Disability Games, and the Northern B.C. Winter
Games.

BC Healthy Living Alliance – this alliance
brings together a wide range of partners to promote
physical activity, healthy eating and living
smoke-free.

BC Recreation and Parks Association – a not-for-profit organization
representing and providing programs and services to
recreation and parks organizations in
British Columbia.

BC School
Sports - encourages student participation in extra-curricular athletics,
assists schools in the development and delivery of
their programs and provides governance for
interschool competition.

BC Seniors Games – each year, more than 3,000 participants over 55 compete in a multi-sport games
that encourages physical, social, and creative
achievement through participation and friendly
competition.

Canada Games – Canada Summer Games and Canada
Winter Games take place in alternate four-year
cycles, and are viewed as stepping stones to
international games and competitions.

Coaches
Association of BC – represents and provides services to coaches in
British Columbia,
including overseeing the National Coaching
Certification Program and Competency-Based Education
Training in British Columbia.

2010 Legacies Now
- provides province-wide sport development programs
and services that help put athletes on the podium
and leave a lasting legacy for all of
British Columbia.

National Coaching Institute – provides training
and certification for high performance coaches (NCCP
levels four and five), with campuses in Victoria and
Vancouver.

Northern BC Winter Games – annual games held in
host communities north of Clinton that promote
athletic, social and cultural exchanges for young
athletes.

PacificSport – two Canadian Sport Centres
(Victoria and Vancouver) and eight regional sport
centres (Fraser Valley, Interior BC, Okanagan,
Northern BC, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Victoria
and Whistler) provide training and coaching to
create a dynamic environment for sport performance
at all levels.

Premier’s Sport Awards – a resource program
designed to help teachers, coaches, and instructors
teach children, eight to 13 years of age, basic
sport skills.

ProMOTION Plus – a provincial organization
providing recognition, consultation, education and
development to promote opportunities for girls and
women in sport and recreation.

Sport BC
– federation for amateur sport that acts as an
advocate for sport and provides programs and
services (such as administration, marketing,
promotions and fund-raising) for its members.

SportMed BC
– a not-for-profit society providing a focal point
for sport medicine and science within the provincial
sport system.

Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic
and Paralympic Winter Games – supports and
promotes the development of sport in Canada by
planning, organizing, financing and staging the XXI
Olympic Winter Games and X Paralympic Games in 2010.
