Funding Sources
Provincial support for sport in British Columbia is provided in several ways.
Consolidated revenues
The Sport and Recreation Branch receives annual
funding from the British Columbia Government budget.
Most of the budget’s funding for British Columbia’s
sport system is routed from the branch through 2010 Legacies Now, which is now responsible for
allocating funding to province-wide sport and
multi-sport organizations.
2010 Legacies Now
2010 Legacies now administers more than
$6 million per year in provincial funding to the
sport and physical activity system on behalf of
government. This funding includes support for
province-wide sport development programs and
services.
SportsFunder Lottery
A suite of lottery products was created
specifically to help strengthen British Columbia’s
amateur sport system. SportsFunder Lottery is
expected to generate about $20 million for amateur
sport in the province over six years.

Direct Access to Gaming Revenue
Community and provincial sport organizations can
apply for funding through the Direct Access to
Gaming Revenue program administered by the Ministry
of Public Safety and Solicitor General’s Gaming
Policy and Enforcement Branch. More than $22 million
is distributed to sport and recreation groups each
year.
