Event Hosting and Resort Guide

We are inviting the world to train and host events in British Columbia.

International and national event organizers and sport federations are choosing British Columbia as a sport event destination because time and time again, British Columbia has demonstrated that it has world-class facilities, services, people and expertise to organize and host major events. And, as we approach the hosting of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, national teams from around the world are looking to British Columbia as a place to train and acclimatize in preparation for the 2010 Games.

The British Columbia Sport Event Hosting and Resort Guide promotes places to compete, train and play in British Columbia, Canada.

This guide, a partnership of the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts and the 2010 LegaciesNow Society, is a comprehensive web-based database with information on resorts, sport facilities and communities. It allows training and event organizers from around the world to search by sport, facility, resort or community to find suitable locations to host their event and/or training camps. The guide also provides contact information for a designated person in each community to assist organizers in setting up their events.

Former Minister Olga Ilich launched the guide at the 2006 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy before an audience of representatives from international sport federations, governments, industry and tourism. Communities are encouraged to use this guide to help promote their facilities, resorts and event-hosting capabilities world-wide.
