Procedures for Burned Areas
If you are planning to travel in forested areas
that were burned in recent years by wildfires,
it is important to use caution at all times to
protect both your personal safety and forest
resources.
Burned forest areas can have unknown and
unexpected hazards, including falling trees. In
some areas, roads are deactivated following a
wildfire to reduce potential environmental
concerns.
In the year following a wildfire, some affected
areas are rehabilitated, with activities such as
aerial reseeding taking place. In addition,
commercial salvage operations of fire-damaged
timber may take place. Members of the public
should stay away from these operations and their
heavy equipment.
Be careful and remember that all users of public
forestlands do so at their own risk.
