Using the Interactive Map of Recreation Sites

By clicking on the map on the Launch the Interactive Map page, you will be taken to the interactive map of recreation site locations and amenities. This map provides an interface to the more than 1,100 recreation sites that are located around British Columbia. You can search the province for the location of recreation sites and obtain some basic information about them.

For information on how to use the map, see:

Finding a Recreation Site

After the interactive tool has finished loading it will display the area around the point you clicked on the previous map.

Select the zoom in tool (selected by default when the window opens) and draw a rectangle on the map around the site you are interested in by clicking, holding, and dragging the mouse cursor.

The map image will refresh, zoomed in to the location that you selected. You can continue to "drill down" using this method for closer views of the recreation site.

If you prefer you can enter a specific scale in the text area at the bottom left of the page, select the GO button, and the map will be refreshed to that scale.

If you have zoomed in too far and want to see some more detail in the area around the recreation site, select the zoom out tool and click on the map to zoom out.

If you need to move the map for a better view of a recreation site select the pan tool . To pan, click on the map, hold down the button, and drag the mouse. When you let go of your mouse button the image will refresh to show the map in its new location.
