Land and Resource Management Plans - Overview
Strategic land use planning allows communities,
in cooperation with the province, to develop a
vision for future land use.
Land use planning sets out a future vision for land
and resources. It also outlines the steps that will be
followed to achieve that vision. Local plans can cover
smaller areas, while strategic planning allows for land
use decisions to be made over large regions or
sub-regions of the province.
Land use planning is a process designed to promote
the development of a shared vision. The disposition of
Crown land for all seasons resort development is guided
by approved local and regional land use plans, such as
Land and Resource Management Plans.
The planning process is open and community-based,
structured to encourage participation by the public,
stakeholders, and various levels of government. And it
doesn’t end when a plan is completed, as completed plans
are monitored and adjusted over time.
