MINISTER APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS TO FOREST PRACTICES BOARD
VICTORIA – Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell has announced the appointments of Andrea Lyall of Squamish, Michael Nash of Prince George and David Patterson of North Vancouver to the Forest Practices Board for a term of two years.

NEW WOODLOT LICENCE AVAILABLE NEAR ZEBALLOS
VICTORIA – A new woodlot licence available northwest of Zeballos will increase forestry opportunities and benefits in the area, Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell announced.

PROVINCE HONOURS B.C.’S OLDEST LIVING FORESTER
VICTORIA – Lorne Swanell, the province’s oldest living forester, at 100 years, was honoured with the creation of a $1,500 bursary to the University of Northern British Columbia’s Ecological Science and Management program in his name.

2008 GYPSY MOTH PROGRAM SUCCEEDS
VICTORIA – The Province has succeeded in eliminating invasive gypsy moth populations in the Cowichan Valley community of Saltair and on Saltspring Island through its 2008 treatment program, with neither site requiring treatment in 2009.
