New Archaeological Site Inventory Form and Guide

Archaeological site information is used by a variety of people for different purposes. To maintain and distribute archaeological data that meets the needs of these diverse users, the Province developed the Heritage Resource Inventory Application (HRIA). The HRIA was designed to streamline and expedite the process of entering and retrieving information, both online and manually. To accomplish these objectives, it is imperative that data arrive in a consistent and standard format.

The new Archaeological Site Inventory Form and Guide have been redesigned to correspond with the HRIA in that they:

  • match the fields in the HRIA
  • clarify the content of fields such as artifacts/features, age of site, site visitors, etc., and
  • allow for the electronic submission of the site form, the site map, and detailed feature data.

Copies of the new inventory form and guide may be obtained on our Forms and Document Library. Only the new version of the site form will be accepted by the Branch after August 16, 2005.
